Kyler's funny

This afternoon Kyler and I were coming back from a park. Here's the conversation:
K: I thought we were going to go pet that dog?
Mom: What dog?
K: The dalmation in the yard!
M: It's a statue.
K: No, it's just a dog sitting still
M: No, it's only a statue of a dog.
K (in kind of a sing-song voice): OK, Mom, if you say so!

Kyler's funnies

Kyler said a couple of things that were pretty cute last week.

First, we were talking about bedtime. It was Labor Day and we had taken a day adventure letterboxing. It was already 7:00 when we were discussing how late we'd be home, and how it would already be bedtime (8:00). Kyler saw that it was 7:00 and said, "It's only one more o'clock until bedtime!"

Earlier during the day while we were out, we saw a girl with purple hair. Kyler promptly said, "She is a Carla." We tried to find out why he thought her name was Carla, and he said people with colored hair are Carla's. The next day he and I saw a girl with colored hair again, pink this time. He quickly informed me that there was another Carla. We don't know where he got this, but he is very sure of his information.

Top of the deck is finished (almost)

The top boards of the deck are "almost" all done. I still need to screw down the edges and tighten all of the screws. There are also some finishing touches that need to be completed and then the top surface of the deck will be complete. We still need to finish the steps on both sides of the deck as well as some benches in front of the trellis.

We are going to start putting some plants into the planter next week as well as put some small retaining walls around the planter. It is hard to see but there are three parts of the planter that have a little different looking dirt. These are about 3' wide x 2' deep holes that have some good dirt moved into them so that the plants have some chance of surviving since our backyard dirt is so bad.
