Picasa 2.1

Picasa just updated itself. Here is the page that has a list of all the changes:

Picasa 2.1 changes

Below are a couple of things from the above page that I thought were interesting:
  • You can undo and redo your edits forever. Feel free to experiment because there's an undo button that will always take you right back where you started. That means you can shut Picasa down, come back a week later, and undo a change you didn't like.
  • We split Albums down the middle, and we made "Folders on Disk" and "Labels". Folders are real things: you can delete them, rename them, move things inside them, and they'll change your disk like you'd expect.
  • You can also rename files on disk, a whole bunch at once really, and you can put the date you took the picture in the filename. And you can see the filename under each picture if you want to, too
And some things I noticed while using the new version:
  • I'm still very dissapointed in the editing of a comment that you apply to a picture. For some wacky reason, you cannot move the cursor back to edit a word in a comment of a picture. You have to actually delete the characters and retype them. Also you cannot even copy and paste the text would make it slightly easier to deal with. I would think that would have been fixed in this release.
  • The blogging part changes are pretty nice, in that you don't have to have a separate program (Hello) to update your blog. I like that a lot.
