E is for...

Early Easter Egg decorating with Egg Yolk Paint! This was Fri, day 5. We also got to Eat a picnic for lunch at the end of VBS, which was fun. Then we came home and made 5 colors of egg yolk paint. If you don't know about it, it's just an egg yolk, a few drops of water, and some food coloring. The colors are shiny, vivid, and the paint is kind of thick. The eggs came out great! I even made a rainbow one that I love! The colors sort of blurred into each other, and dried really smooth. Fun project!

I love your idea of a different craft/activity for every letter! Maybe another yr. it wouldn't hurt to do it every other day to make it last longer into the summer.
For the egg yolks. How many does it take to color about 1 doz. eggs? Sounds like such a good method. Would it be possible to dye the egg w/ the usual tablet dyes & then use the egg yolk as stripes or polka dots on top of the regular dye? Or even a yellow duck on a pale green background? This lends itself to lots of creative possibilities.
Thanks for sharing all the wonderful pictures of the children enjoying all the crafts! And what a good mother you are, Jen, to deal w/ all the supplies, having them ready for each new letter/day.
